Visiting South Salem

This week's stop on our Marion County tour is South Salem! I had the privilege of meeting with the new owner of the Konditorei to talk about her history with the Konditorei and her experience as a small business owner in Salem. The food was great, but the company was even better! The Konditorei has become a staple in Salem, as it just celebrated its 37th year in business.

I had a wonderful time in South Salem with State Representative Denyc Boles.

I had a wonderful time in South Salem with State Representative Denyc Boles.

I also had the opportunity to meet with Representative Denyc Boles from House District 19. Not only does she serve in the Oregon Legislature but she is also on the Marion County Budget Committee. Representative Boles and I spoke in depth about the budgeting process.

Next week, I am visiting Mill City and speaking with Mayor Tim Kirsch to talk about the city and the pressing concern of the residents regarding the bridge. In March the city received an $8.1 million Federal Grant to restore the North Santiam Bridge that is located in the heart of Mill City.

A Look Forward

The next two weeks of my calendar are packed full of meeting with business owners community leaders as well as fun local events. We are full steam ahead to November 6th!

This weekend, I am going to be visiting Stayton’s 23rd annual Santiam Summerfest! Downtown will be lined with street and food vendors, and the park will be hosting a breakfast and a classic car show!
